Meta Devices
Renoise's meta devices are effects that modulate or control other device parameters instead of manipulating the audio stream of the tracks. They can even be linked across track boundaries, so a complex and powerful routing is possible with endless possibilities.
Common usages for meta devices are applying modulations via the *LFO Device or *Signal Follower Device, controlling plugin instruments via automation *Automation Device or sending MIDI to plug-ins *MIDI Control Device . There are also devices which can interact with played back notes and other events such as the *Key-Tracking Device or *Velocity Device. And finally, devices which can also be used to route and control other meta or audio effect Parameters via the *XY Pad and *Hydra.

The devices are categorized into:
- Automation: (automate plug-in or MIDI Instruments)
- Modulation: (automate parameters, depending on various inputs like notes, velocity, a tracks audio output and so on)
